  • With 15+ years of private teaching experience, Kacie’s approach seeks to see music not as rote memorization or regurgitation, but as language. Learning music with this bent allows the sometimes tedious elements (like technique and theory) to be seen as vocabulary worth integrating into a player’s ‘speech’. The pace is the student’s, always. The only requirement is self-motivation and a desire to learn.

Kacie has worked with students interested in a myriad of genres, including classical, jazz and improvisation, pop, and folk music. Though open to working with anyone of any age and any level, she has most often found her stride in teaching adults, specializing in piano or songwriting, and focusing most on improvisation and music theory.

Having learned the toll of having too many students, Kacie’s at-home studio is now maxed at 12 people. This allows the assurance of clear-headedness, thoughtfulness, and time throughout the week to continue to learn and grow as both a teacher and player. 45-minute and hour lessons are available at this time. • Sometimes weekly lessons aren’t the best fit for songwriters. If you feel comfortable with your week-to-week process, but have a song or project that you want to check-in about, this may be a better option. Instead of a consistent lesson schedule, consultations allow you to pop in and out as you need or want.

  • Do you love the teacher you already work with but feel you could benefit from some supplemental work? Are you taking a theory class and looking for some tutoring? Supplemental Check-Ins and Short-Term Tutoring allows us to dive in with specific, short-term goals.
